Odorless Omega 3 softgels with EPA & DHA from Now Foods

When you buy Now Foods Double Strength DHA-500 , you get 180 softgels of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil concentrate . One capsule contains a dosage of 1 000 mg (=1g) fish oil concentrate with 250 mg eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and 500 mg docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The fish oil concentrate used is free from potentially harmful levels of contaminants such as PCBs, dioxins, mercury and other heavy metals.

What is Now Foods, DHA-500, Double Strength?

DHA-500 from NOW contains twice the amount of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) at 500 mg per softgel. DHA-500 is odorless and offers an alternative for people who cannot tolerate fish odors.

What does DHA mean?

DHA is the abbreviation for docosahexaenoic acid. Docosahexaenoic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid. It belongs to the group of omega-3 fatty acids[1].

There are two industrially used methods for the production of docosahexaenoic acid: the processing of fish oils from fish and oily sea fish and biotechnological production by cultivating microscopic algae that form docosahexaenoic acid.

This product is DHA and EPA from natural fish oil concentrate produced under strict quality standards. It has also been tested to be free from potentially harmful levels of contaminants such as PCBs, dioxins, mercury and other heavy metals. EPA is another important member of the omega-3 fatty acid group[3].

You can find information about the effects of docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid in our store.

Which foods are rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)?

The following foods are particularly rich in docosahexaenoic acid[1] (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid[3] (EPA):

  • oily sea fish
  • herring, mackerel, salmon, tuna
  • seafood
  • Linseed oil, rapeseed oil, walnut oil
  • Chia seeds, linseed, walnuts

Our body can only produce small amounts of both omega-3 fatty acids itself.[6] In order to prevent an omega-3 deficiency in the body, attention should be paid to the regular intake of omega-3-rich foods. In addition to a balanced diet, taking omega-3 supplements such as Now Foods Double Strength DHA-50 can be useful.

In addition to Now Foods Double Strength DHA-500, you can find many other omega-3 supplements from Now Foods in our store.
