What is lecithin?
Lecithin is the common name for phosphatidylcholine. It belongs to the phospholipids, which are the main component of cell membranes .[1] Lecithins contain fats and phosphoric acid , among other things, and are involved in various metabolic processes in the human body [2].
Humans can produce lecithin themselves from choline, which is ingested with food . Lecithin-rich sources include eggs, meat, wholegrain products and vegetables.
