What is Astin from Nutrex?
Astin by Nutrex contains Hawaiian astaxanthin, which is extracted from freshwater algae from our own farm in Kona, Hawaii.
Astaxanthin belongs to the group of carotenoids. Carotenes are the natural pigments that give fruit and vegetables their red, yellow and orange color. [ 1 ] Astaxanthin is formed naturally in microalgae (plankton) and gives salmon fish and crustaceans their characteristic pink color. 2]
